The Ministry Team at Chedoke Church
Thanks to Volunteers The programs operating at Chedoke are sustained by literally hundreds of hours of volunteer service every week. We are grateful for the gifts that God has given and the willing hearts of those on whom those gifts have been bestowed.
The Rev. Dr. Garfield Havemann: Senior Minister
Garfield joined the Ministry team at Chedoke in Jan. 2003. His ministry focusses on providing leadership and vision, leading worship, teaching and equipping leaders and members, pastoral care, supervising and supporting staff. Garfield holds a BA and BD from Pretoria University, a Master of Theology and a Doctor of Theology from the University of South Africa, and has over 27 years of congregational experience.
Steve Baldry: Director of Christian Education
Steve holds a Master of Divinity from Tyndale University and Seminary and has over 25 years experience with children ministries. He joined the staff at Chedoke in 2000 and his key areas of involvement are Kids ROC, Son City, Vacation Bible School, Leading with Care and CONNECT. Steve also shares in some of the Sunday morning preaching and pastoral care at Chedoke.
Greg Rushton: Coordinator of Youth and Young Adult Ministries
Greg has been involved in leading various youth and college and careers ministries over the last 15 years in church and para-church programs, including 9 years as a camp director. Greg joined staff at Chedoke in 2009 and his key areas of involvement are: Junior Youth (Grades 6-8), Senior Youth (Highschool), College and Careers, and worship bands. Greg holds a Masters of Arts degree in Religious Studies from McMaster University.
Bev Jarvis: Organist and Choir Director
Bev is a musician and educator and has a Bachelor of Music from Mount Allison University (Sackville, New Brunswick) and a Bachelor of Education from the University of New Brunswick (Fredericton, New Brunswick). She has been involved in church music as organist, accompanist, chorister or choir director for many years (her first church position was during high school). Bev came to Chedoke in 2003 and she plays for the 11 a.m. service and directs the Adult Choir.
The Rev. Dr. Bob Bernhardt: Minister in Association
Bob retired in 2005 after almost 40 years of ordained ministry (over 33 years of which was at Chalmers Presbyterian Church here in Hamilton). He has a Doctor of Ministry degree from Westminster Seminary in Philadelphia. Though not on staff at Chedoke Bob provides volunteer asistance to the Lay Visitation Team, serves as a Bible study leader and assists with the Chedoke website. Bob also serves as Stated Supply to the Alberton Presbyterian Church and is Webmaster for PresbyKirk - the official website of the Presbytery of Hamilton.
